The Committee on Petitions constantly receives petitions alleging violations of the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities. On 9 November 2016, the Committee will organize a Workshop on the rights of persons with disabilities, as illustrated in petitions.
Several studies will be presented during the workshop, focusing on the protection role of the Committee on Petitions in the context of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty, as well as the use of European Structural and Investment Funds for persons with disabilities.
The workshop will be followed by discussions of concrete petitions in the field of disabilities, as part of the regular committee agenda.
